Light On Our Path

“Thy word is as a lamp unto my feet…” —Psalm 119:105

Read Psalm 119:105-112

When you travel along paths in the dark, it is very useful, even necessary, to take a flashlight with you. In a similar way, the Word of God is meant to be a lamp unto our feet and a light upon our path.

We are liable to stumble over many obstacles in life, in the literal sense as well as the figurative. Satan places many of these obstacles on our life’s path, but the Lord is able to shed light upon them through the light of His Word. His Word tells us what is wrong and dangerous for us. His light not only shows us the obstacles ahead, but also sets up warning signs to show us how to avoid them. The Lord wants to prevent us from stumbling by the light and power of His Word.

We must heed the light of God’s Word upon our life’s path. Only in this way will we be enabled to follow the Lord wherever He leads us. Following the Saviour implies that we live to His honour, each day again.

In what way can the Bible be a lamp?
