Wastefulness

“Wastefulness”

He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man. —Proverbs 21:17

Read Proverbs 21:1-18

Today’s text means that people who love to indulge themselves in pleasure are kept from working diligently, and end up losing money. Such an individual squanders all his money and sub-stance, a characteristic that alludes to the prodigal son. On top of wasting money, he is less able to work well and earn enough money to support himself. This lifestyle characterizes the days in which we live. Many people today also think, “Let us eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die.”

Perhaps you think this is not the case with you. How blessed you are when you conduct your life in accordance to Gods’ commandments, finding true joy only in the Lord, not in this world. Those that rejoice in God will not be in want. When God takes care of our lives, which results in us placing all our hopes upon Him, we will be safe, finding a refuge with Him.

Do you always keep God’s will in mind?
