Two Births

And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. 1 Kings 3:18

Read Psalm 139:14-24

The two women who appeared in Solomon’s court had both received a newborn child. Both had become pregnant and carried their babies to full term. They had not allowed the unborn children in their wombs to be aborted and killed, which often occurs in our country. Many pregnancies are prematurely terminated. This is defended by referring to a pregnancy merely as the formation of a clump of cells.

The reality is very different. Unborn children are being put to death. This not only takes place among the lower classes of society but also among intelligent, decent, married individuals. This is a horrible procedure.

Abortion is often practiced when a cleft palate, a club foot or cystic fibrosis is detected in an unborn child. This terrible infanticide is even performed as a matter of convenience, if an unplanned pregnancy, for example, ruins vacation plans. When an ultrasound reveals a baby has Down’s Syndrome or some other issue, doctors even try to persuade mothers to have an abortion. The commandment, Thou shalt not kill, is trodden underfoot. Because this happens so regularly, we get used to these terrible atrocities.

How do you react to abortion? Is it no longer shocking to you? Or are you saddened that so many unborn children are murdered? Do you pray that our land and people would repent of this evil?

Thought: Abortion is cold-blooded murder.

Psalter 383:2,4 (based on Psalm 139) Ere into being I was brought, Thy eye did see, and in Thy thought, My life in all its perfect plan Was ordered ere my days began. The wicked Thou wilt surely slay, From me let sinners turn away; They speak against the Name divine, I count God’s enemies as mine.
