One in Spirit

“One in Spirit”

He that is joined unto the Lord…. —1 Corinthians 6:17

Read 1 Corinthians 6:2-20

Paul declared to the Corinthians his great love for them. His wish was that with the same love, they would open their hearts to Paul, and also especially to the Lord. They were not their own masters, but belonged to the Lord, having had the promises of the covenant placed upon their lives and their foreheads sprinkled with the sign of baptism. Both of these things have great significance. Let us think about how these two privileges apply to us. Where were you born and raised? What have you been taught? Do you wish to continue on the same path, or are you turning your back on the light and choosing darkness instead? Does God’s Spirit live in you? Is it your desire that He live in you? If you are a believer, God promises to give you the earnest or down payment of the Holy Spirit. Yield your life to the teachings of god’s Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to grant you what God commands in His Word. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit by willfully compromising with sin.

Do you give serious thought to what you discuss and whom you choose as your friends? Do you take eternal matters seriously? Tell me then, who are your friends? How do you spend your time? These things are very important. Light and darkness cannot go together; Belial is an enemy of Christ. Therefore let your prayer be, “Oh Lord Jesus, light the fire of Thy love in me!” With that fire, the darkness will disappear and God will walk with you and in you. You will understand fully the phrase, “I will be their God and they shall be my people.”

What does the following saying mean: Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also?
