Counting
”So teach us to number our days…” —Psalm 90:12
Read Psalm 90
This Psalm, written by Moses, is actually a prayer. Verse 12 is our focus today – it speaks of counting our days. Usually we en-joy counting things that are precious to us, like the money we have saved. We ought also to count our days in the same way. Our text reminds us of the frailty of our life. Our temporal life will come to an end one day, though we don’t know when. That is why it is important that as long as we live, we spend our days in the service of the Lord. Our days pass by quickly, and our duty is to be frugal with the time given us.
There are several questions we need to ask ourselves. How do I spend my days? Will I be able to meet the Lord when death comes? Do I know the Lord Jesus as my Saviour? If the answer to the last question is positive, then the end of your earthly life will be blessed!
What is the purpose of counting our days?
