Lessons from God

“Lessons from God”

And he went down with them. —Luke 2:51

Read Luke 2:40-52

From what we read in our passage, it seems that as a child the Lord Jesus revealed something of His glory. When the Lord Jesus went up into the temple as a youth it was with majesty: All that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers (v.47). Jesus was occupied with the things of His heavenly Father (v.49). Joseph and Mary did not understand this. If they had they would have not been so anxious. Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, not in disobedience, but in obedience to His Father. However, when Joseph and Mary return to Nazareth, the Lord Jesus goes with them. A child is called to be obedient to his parents and so the Lord was subject to them.

Was the concern of Mary and Joseph justified?
