Fully Armed

Fully Armed

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13

Read 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

It would be foolish to send soldiers to the front lines of combat if they were not fully equipped. We would expect superior officers to give better guidance. If such a thing would happen, it would demonstrate the lack of real concern from commanding officers and would be courting disaster.

The Lord does not allow His combatants to enter the battle in this way. He will have them thoroughly outfitted. Moreover, the Lord has established the quality of their armour; thankfully it has a divine and heavenly quality. If it were up to us to overcome sin, the devil and his devious devices, we would surely lose the battle. How must we then fight the good fight of faith? We cannot do it in our own strength, but are enabled through God’s power.

All the weapons we need are ready. Take hold of them. Perhaps you argue that you cannot take these weapons yourself. Realize that this command is given in the context of exercising faith directed unto the Lord. The more you rely on Him, the more He will bestow His strength in your weakness. The Lord is willing to grant you all the armour you need, also today. A lively faith cannot refuse this offer. Accepting His power makes you dependent again and again. This was Paul’s secret when he said: When I am weak, then am I strong. The enemy always lies in wait. How will you resist him? Do not leave your home today without the full armour of God.

Thought: Is the temptation to sin stronger inside your home or outside of it? Why?

Psalter 89:1,3,4 (based on Psalm 34) Ye children, come, give ear to me And learn Jehovah’s fear; He who would long and happy live, Let him my counsel hear. Jehovah’s eyes are on the just, He hearkens to their cry; Against the wicked sets His face, Their very name shall die. The Lord may suffer many griefs Upon the just to fall, But He will bring them safely through, Delivering them from all.
