Faithfulness

“Faithfulness”

I have made a covenant. —Psalm 89:3

Read Psalm 89:1-9

The poet of Psalm 89 writes of God’s great faithfulness. In verse two he writes that he will sing of God’s mercies eternally so that all people, from generation to generation, will hear of them. This means that the contents of his song must be very special: it reveals God’s mercies and His covenant faithfulness. The Lord had given David the promise that the Messiah of God would be born from his posterity, and in fulfillment of that promise, the Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the City of David.

The Lord also shows His faithfulness in the congregation (v.5). The Lord’s mercies are to be proclaimed among young and old, for the Lord calls us through His Word: “Look unto me, and be ye saved” (Isa.45:22). He is a faithful God to an unfaithful people, willing to deal with those who forsake and forget Him. We can never think too highly of God.

How can you see God’s faithfulness in your life?
