“Chosen”
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. —Colossians 3:16
Read Colossians 3:1-17
If someone knows that they are chosen by the Lord, will they live however they want, knowing they are safe? If you read our Scripture passage, written to the believers of Colosse, you will realize that a true faith does not give us a free pass to do what we want to do. In verse 1 we read, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above.” The most important thing in your life will be to love God and serve Him, seeking to live to the honour of His name. Things such as cursing, gossiping, lying, and stinginess, among others, are not consistent with such love.
What is actually expected of those who know the Lord? You can read this in the verses 12-17: be merciful, kind, humble, meek, long suffering, forgiving, loving, and thankful. Let the peace of God rule your hearts. Such a life is a rich life, for whatever the world has to offer, it cannot give peace. Meditating on and doing the things God asks you to will, with His blessing, give you rest.
What does it mean to seek the things which are from above?
