Throughout our churches, we have a great need for more pastors to fill our vacant pulpits. One of the greatest concerns for the future of our churches is the need for more men of leadership in the church, women who can serve and teach well, and evangelists to reach the world. Subsequently, very often we hear our pastors praying from the pulpit, “Lord, send us young men; for the harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few!” (Matthew 9:38).
Pastor L.J. Bilkes from Oxford FRC brings us a sermon on this passage that encourages us to be prayerful in our time of need. Pastor Bilkes leads us through the compassion Jesus has, the situation He describes, and the exhortation Jesus gives. With this passage in mind, let us continue to pray that the Lord shall give “some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-12).
