iPhones, and Samsungs, and – Oh My! What Entertains Me?

Entertainment today is great. I mean really great. The XBox? The iPhone? Galaxy S7, 8, 9? 4K TV’s? Nothing in the history of the world has had the power to keep people entertained as much as these things. Add to that Instagram, Netflix, Pinterest, texting, Spotify—the internet—and YouTube and I can spend all day, every day, being entertained. Don’t bother checking in on me – I’m fine!

But I’m not going to say anything against these things today (in one way, all of them really are a technological marvel, and show what we can do as people made in the image of God, though fallen, yet seeking to create as He created). I’m not even going to speak about being addicted to these things (though admit it, some of you are addicted). What I’m going to do is simply ask you a question:

What entertains you? Many of you will have all of the things I’ve listen above. And more. So what do you watch, listen to, view, and text on them all? Ask yourself: What entertains me? And then one more question that I heard someone ask last week:

Are you entertained by what God finds deplorable?

“God guard my heart and mind today, I pray. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Philippians 4:8, “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, what things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report—if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
