The Powers of Darkness

The Powers of Darkness

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

Read Ephesians 6:10-20

Evidences of the powers of darkness are not only to be found in explicit occult practices. The power of darkness is sometimes veiled in ordinary language and everyday occurrences. Your greatest adversaries are not certain people, but spiritual wickedness in high places. Perhaps we mock at those who, half a century ago, pointed to the radio and T.V. as being the wickedness in the high places. But that is not what these words mean.

Still, let us be careful in our assessments. What percentage of the media does the devil have under his control? When we go online we need to ask ourselves: Who am I actually connecting with? There are sites and programs which you can know with certainty are in league with the powers of darkness. However, besides pornographic sites and other sites that are blatantly in contradiction to God’s commandments, there are sites through which you can become a prisoner of dark, unseen powers. For one thing, these programs take up your precious time. Many people keep their cell phones on 24/7, including during prayer and Bible reading. May these facts raise alarm bells in your life! These things can only bring a struggle in the lives of those who have learned to love the Lord. Realize however, that the Lord has provided armour against this foe. Put it on! Above all, be watchful and pray.

Thought: Were you online today? With whom and for what purpose?

Psalter 387:1,3,5 (based on Psalm 142) To God my earnest voice I raise, To God my voice imploring prays; Before His face my grief I show And tell my trouble and my woe. All unprotected, lo, I stand, No friendly guardian at my hand, No place of flight or refuge near, And none to whom my soul is dear. Be Thou my help when troubles throng, For I am weak and foes are strong; My captive soul from prison bring, And thankful praises I will sing.
