Our Help

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills…” —Psalm 121:1

Read Psalm 121

What do you think of when you see mountains or pictures of mountains? The Psalmist of Psalm 121 thought of God and His protection when He saw the mountains, and this brought great comfort to His soul.

The city of Jerusalem was surrounded by mountains. Instead of being a threat or burden, they acted as a protective landscape for the city. Just as the mountains provided protection for Jerusalem, the Lord is a shield for His people. He is the Defender of His people, surrounding them from every side as a defence against every enemy.

There are many temptations in life. The devil constantly seeks to undermine our faith in the Lord and to make us do things displeasing in the eyes of the Lord. Everyone who is challenged and attacked needs a defender.

At times you too are, and will be, troubled by various attacks. What a great comfort it is that we may hope and expect help from the Lord. Where will your help come from? Lift your eyes up unto the Lord. A life lived with the Lord is a safe and blessed life.

Do you expect all help from Him?
