Enoch Walked with God
And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. Genesis 5:22

Remarkably, we read that Enoch walked with God during the pre-flood era. Special mention of this is made in our Scripture reading. You usually walk or go for a stroll with someone you are familiar with. A mother may walk with her child. When a young man walks with his girl friend we are given the impression that they are in agreement with each other.
In one of his previous congregations Rev. Westerink became acquainted with an older female member of his church. Life had not been easy for her. She became an orphan at a young age and grew up in an orphanage. She remained unmarried, and therefore did not have any children. Yet great happiness emanated from her life. When anyone asked her what the secret to her happy life was, she invariably pointed to Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” The Lord had entered her life, and she was made submissive to His will. She felt secure led by His hand; she walked with God. In a similar way, Enoch also experienced that the Lord had entered into his life. Perhaps, as some think, this occurred at the birth of his oldest son. Enoch called him Methuselah, which means, When this child dies, it will happen. This actually took place. In the same year that Methuselah died, the great flood came over the whole earth. Enoch had heard the voice of God and was brought into agreement with Him.
