Counselor

“Counselor”

Counsel is mine. —Proverbs 8:14

Read Proverbs 8:12-16

“Good counsel is hard to come by” is a common saying. Indeed, sometimes it can be very difficult to make the right decision. It may be encouraging to receive advice, but ultimately you have to make a final decision in spite of the advice given you.

The counsel of God and of Christ is much different than human counsel. The Lord Jesus is called Wisdom in our Scripture pas-sage. He not only gives wisdom but He is Wisdom. In verse 14 we read that counsel and wisdom belong to Him. He gives counsel and understanding and strength (v.14). As the Son of God, He knows His Father’s counsel made in eternity. His counsel is therefore perfect; so let us go to Him for counsel. When the Lord Jesus asked them if they would go away as the multitude did, Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). They knew that they could only go to the Lord Jesus for good counsel. He showed them the way of life; His counsel is therefore of vital interest to them. Good counsel is priceless. The counsel Christ Jesus gives cost Him His blood. He paid the price for everything in order to give life by grace alone. Therefore you may go to the Lord with empty hands; He is able to fill them with His fullness.

In what does the wisdom of God’s exist?
